The Sanctuary
Under the leadership of Dr. Frank Ferris, the 21-year old congregation of Fairmount Presbyterian Church was ready to build a "good but not grandiose sanctuary - not a miniature cathedral but a parish church of simple lines and sound construction."
Emerging from the depression, Fairmounters were eager to continue the expansion of the rapidly growing church, and on Palm Sunday, 1942, the new Sanctuary was open for worship.
You may observe that the spire is made of stone. A traditional copper spire would have been out of the question in WWII, so it was made of stone, with the intention of sheathing it in copper at a later date. The structure has proven to be so unique, that no attempt at sheathing has ever been reconsidered.
The interior of the Sanctuary reflects the vision of Dr. Ferris, as being "good" and of "simple lines and sound construction." Truly an elegant setting for devotion to God.

Relatively unchanged since 1942, notable enhancements include the chancel organ pipes and a Schantz 100 Rank Organ, installed in 1996.
