Many mission activities happen in the community throughout the week.

Heights Youth Center (Boys & Girls Club of America)
Members of Fairmount and the Heights community developed a youth center with the Boys & Girls Club at the old Heights Presbyterian Church. - heightsyouthclub.org

E CITY

Northeast Ohio Alliance for Hope (N.O.A.H)
Putting values into the public arena to make a difference. NOAH is dealing with the root causes of poverty in the metropolitan area. Up to date information on issues and events can be found on our website at www.NortheastOhioAllianceforHope.org. If you are concerned about the future of our communities or the well-being of our neighbors, please join us.

Cleveland Food Bank
Organization providing donated food to local agencies, food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters that serve the needy in NE Ohio.

North Presbyterian Church
Fairmount adopts one month a year to worship and serve at this city church.

Meals on Wheels
Uses the facilities at Fairmount Church to prepare and deliver nutritious meals to homebound people in the community.

InterAct Cleveland
A Cleveland organization which is a catalyst for creating an inter-religious community. Members put faith into action, working for social justice through dialogue, service and advocacy, and prepare a hot meal monthly.

United Protestant Campus Ministry
Programs located on the campus of several Cleveland area colleges.

Mt. Zion Church
Partner church that occasionally hosts joint services and activities, including the assembling of Thanksgiving baskets.

High School Students

  • Confirmation Class (9th graders) serve meals once a month at Bethany Church
  • Each Thanksgiving students coordinate a can/food drive to benefit area Food Bank
  • At Christmas students shop for and wrap presents for children in Cleveland
  • Each summer students participate in a mission trip

Garden Valley Community
The 1990 census indicates a total population in the area of only 7,568 and it has the highest percentage of families below the poverty level in the city.

Anton Grdina School
"Student enrollment is much closer to 100 percent poverty" The school is situated in the Garden Valley Estates public housing project near East 79th Street and Kinsman Avenue.

City Mission
Provides a continuum of care that begins at each individual’s point of immediate need and moves him or her along, with appropriate resources, from crisis through recovery and discipleship to integration back into family and society. - thecitymission.org

Inter-Religious Task Force
A Cleveland-based interfaith group that promotes peace and human rights in Central America and Colombia.  People of faith and conscience founded IRTF after the 1980 execution of four U.S. church women in El Salvador by U.S.-trained soldiers. - irtfcleveland.org

Habitat for Humanity
Participate in sponsoring and building homes with volunteers and local low-income families.

NEOCH - The Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless
The mission of the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless is to organize and empower homeless and at-risk men, women and children to break the cycle of poverty through public education, advocacy and the creation of nurturing environments.

Priorities
      * Expand Section 8 vouchers reserved for homeless people
      * Lobby for Public Housing to reserve or set aside units for homeless people
      * Get Alcohol and Drug and Mental Health Boards to make housing a priority
         with services

Services
      * Work with housing organizations to create county-wide housing trust fund
      * Expand prevention services so that people do not lose their housing
      * Encourage landlords to reserve units for very low income families and
         individuals
      * Lobby Congress to implement a National Housing Trust Fund as proposed
         by NLIHC
      * Expand housing opportunities for the working poor to get into housing

A non-profit, social service, United Way agency that serves the changing needs of the Broadway neighborhood community with a variety of urgently needed social programs to enhance the quality of life for children, families and seniors. - universitysettlement.net
