Children's Worship
Age 3, 4 & 5
11:00
Room 2 & the Polly Scheid Room, lower level
Faith Stage
3’s are very responsive to Bible stories and will see God as a miracle worker and Jesus as their friend. They will use play to explore religious ideas but will not understand “object lessons” because they cannot think abstractly enough to relate a concrete thing to an abstract theological idea.
Children ages 4&5 are very concrete thinkers and will resonate more with Bible stories than with theological ideas. They will not be able to place characters on a timeline(Moses and Jesus will be friends), but will understand that Jesus loves them. God will most likely be a human figure and may even get fused with Jesus.
This Montessori–based curriculum shares bible stories in the context of a carefully structured, age-appropriate worship that helps children learn the order and meaning of the different parts of a worship service. Play-time and a snack called the “Feast” are included as parts of the worship. Parents are welcome and should plan to pick up the child as soon as worship is over.
